Energy-Efficient Lighting

Light fixtures and lamps, such as CFL and LED, that consume substantially less energy than conventional light sources.

At present, most of the office buildings, Institutes and Industries are lighted by using 36W & 28W Fluorescent Tube lights.

Consumption of these Lights is as below:
1. 36W Fluorescent Tube light with Electronic Choke : 33 to 36W
2. 36W FTL with Copper Choke :52W
3. 28W T5 FTL electronic choke :28 to 30W

All these can be replaced by energy efficient LED light as below:

1. 36W FTL can be replaced by 16W to 18W LED tube
2. 28W T5 FTL can be replaced by 12W LED Tube Light
Which will give a Overall 50% to 60 % saving in Light Bill.

Advantages / Benifits of LEDs over Fluorescent Tubes (CFL)

Long Term Cost : LEDs are more expensive initially than fluorescent lights and CFL's, but they can provide huge potential savings over the long term. Incandescent lights last for 800 to 1500 hours, fluorescent lights last up to 10,000 hours, While LEDs can last up to 60,000 hours.

Maintenance : Due to the longer lifespan of an LED bulb over a fluorescent tube, maintenance and replacement times can be reduced when LEDs are used.

Noise : They tend to emit clicking and popping sounds and can produce a low buzzing sound when been used for a significant amount of time. LEDs do not have this problem and operate silently.

Colour : Fluorescents produce only a cold blue or white light. LEDs provide all kind of different colours easily for any purpose, which makes them so adaptable.

Environmental Impact : Mercury in Fluorescent lights and its vapour is extremely hazardous to both humans and the environment. LEDs are completely safe and do not contain such poisonous materials.

Instant On : LEDs light up as soon as an electrical current is passed through them. Fluorescents do not do this and require time to flicker before staying on. LEDs provide instant light and instant full illumination.

Energy Consumption : LEDs consume far less power than fluorescent tubes.

Durable : Because LEDs are not made of glass and are hollow inside. They are less fragile than both fluorescent and incandescent bulbs.

No Heat : While fluorescent tubes emit less heat than incandescent and halogen bulbs, they still produce much more than LEDs. LEDs are lukewarm to the touch and therefore carry less risk of causing an accidental fire or burn.
